LeetCode Extension and Slackbot

Tools that enhance the experience of CodeBreakers' students when using it

What are the Tools?

LeetCode Extension

The LeetCode extension provides a valuable additional tool to CodeBreakers students as they work at hand-chosen coding questions on their own. Given that CodeBreakers is a predominantly online training system, students may not have access to the instructors at all times. The existing tools and resources include LeetCode’s discussion and hints features, however these may lack credibility or are not always available for all problems. With an extension that shows a set of sequential hints, solution, and video explanation for all assigned problems, we are removing potential obstacles and streamlining the process such that students won’t have to wait until working hours for instructors to answer their questions, or search Google or YouTube.

Slackbot

The SlackBot is a communication tool used by both the coaches and students. Its features include allowing the coaches to pick a set of users marked as "students" that remind them to fill out a survey about their past weeks experience. This form integrates into Slack so there is a cross-platform usability for users. There will also be a different survey for coaches as well. Additionally, there will be recurring reminders for students to complete a task within a certain time period that the coaches are able to set. These features will not only help the workflow and learning experience of students but streamline the teaching structure of coaches at CodeBreakers.

Hints
Students can reference hints to help them whenever they are stuck.

Text solutions are available for when students do not want the code solution explicitly, and want words to guide them to the answer.

Video Solutions
Video solutions help students walk-through the entire problem, so that they can understand why the code solution was written the way it was.

Code Solutions
Code solutions are there for students to compare once they are done, or if they simply don't know how to answer the question.

Suggest Solutions
When text, video, or code solutions are not available, students are able to suggest their own solution to the coaches, and they can update the it for that problem if the solution is valid.

Slash Commands
Coaches are able to remind all of their students about their LeetCode problems for the week through the /remindeveryone command. While students are able to check what problems they need to complete through the /remindme command.

Reminders
The problems that need to be completed are displayed when a student uses the /remindme command. Each problem name can redirect the student to the actual problem on Leetcode for them to complete.
